How I came to yoga

It took me a while to make it to a yoga class. I kept trying YouTube classes but never had the confidence to attend a physical class as I thought I’d be expected to be able to touch my toes or float up into a handstand on my first visit.

My Mum had been going to yoga classes at our local gym for a while and she persuaded me to go with her.  The best part about a gym yoga class is that it’s mostly always beginners as people dip in and out of classes all the time, so I didn’t feel like the odd one out.

When I was half way through Uni, I joined the committee of the Yoga Society and through that my eyes were opened to all the different types of yoga, different types of teachers and different workshops. Previously, I had just done the same class with the same sequence every week.  Another committee member who later became a really good friend encouraged me to take the leap and do my yoga teacher training.

In April of 2019, I started my 200hrs yoga teacher training with Emily Young. I don’t think I’ve ever been pushed so far out of my comfort zone.  I’d gone from being the quietest person in the room for as long as I could remember to teaching 50+ people in a gym. It was by far one of the best things I’ve ever done.

Why I teach

I teach because I want everyone to experience how yoga can change how you feel and your perspective on life. I hope to inspire you to take the leap and try yoga, to build your confidence, to find some balance within our busy lives and above all, I hope to inspire you to be Fearless, on and off the mat.

Fearless Yoga is a safe space to come as you are, no experience needed, no expectations and no need to be able to touch your toes.
